Teak and Holly sole for a nice Tollycraft in Palm Beach

Recently the owner of this very nicely maintained 65' Tollycraft asked us to install a Teak and holly sole in the galley, saloon, fwd passageway and stairs, as well as all three staterooms.

We have done lots of other work on this yacht over the last several years. We installed new swim platform decking, recaulked and sanded the teak decks and repaired an area in the pilot house roof that had some delamination and core deterioration due to water entry.
After measuring the job we built the teak and holly panels. The holly is really maple these days.

Lots of parts for this job. Our "kilos"(lead shot) work very well.

Steps down into the owners stateroom.

Half the challenge on a job like this is not to damage any existing finishes while completing the installation. Everything around you is either varnished or fabric and extreme care is needed to protect surfaces.

The fwd cabin around the bunk corner.

Part of the challenge is to keep the lines all lined up between cabins and around hatches and up and down stairs.

Viking Sport Cruiser Teak Cabin Sole

After the Fort Lauderdale boat show Viking Yachts asked us to install a teak sole in one of their 63' sport cruisers. The new boat had been sold to a client from Venezuela and the client wanted the carpet removed and teak installed to match what was already existing in the galley and part of the helm station. Naturally we had a very limited time frame in which to accomplish our work and had to work around lots of other craftsmen doing additional work per the owners requirements.

Our crew worked through two weekends in order to install all of the wood and get it varnished in time. Twelve calender days is pretty quick for a job like this. Viking is a good customer for us so we turned to and got it done in time.

It's not very common for us to install a solid teak sole. People usually want a teak and holly sole.

The floor came out nicely and we hope that the owner is very happy with it.

Speedboat

This beautiful boat has been sitting on the hard at Cracker Boy Boatworks for several months now. The scuttle is that the owners financial situation has changed for the worse. This is the boat that Richard Branson chartered for a foiled Trans Atlantic record attempt some months back, hence the Virgin Money graphics.

Very hard to get good photos due to the sheer size of this vessel.

Draft is 18' of canting carbon fibre strut with a way cool bulb on the bottom. Also not as clear in this photo is the new fangled T drive system. The prop and shaft hinge down from the bottom for a clean underwater profile. Only not so new. It is remarkably similar to the designs developed by the Dispro Boat Co. about 100 years ago for there small rowboats and canoes.

Just one more shot. When we're out sailing around in lake Worth (part of the ICW in Palm Beach) you can see this red hull up in its cradle for quite a distance.
